Single Review: The Flatline – Isn’t she Pretty?

I like a band with presence and plenty of swagger and young Manchester/ Oldham/ Huddersfield band The Flatline have it in spades. After last year’s excellent Arctic Monkey rock tinted Sub Pressure Sessions EP, the guys (lead singer Jack Dunning, Will Leslie on guitar, Jamie Walton with bass and drummer Ben Pursehouse) end 2018 with a new track Isn’t She Pretty.

Isn’t She Pretty is a good banging tune with plenty of drum rolls and bouncy beats with an instinctive feel for US and New York garage. Jack Dunning shows off an impressive rock voice, which again has a thrusting raw edge and energy. I get a vibe for the likes of the Stooges with this track.

The Flatline are fresh and still learning their craft; there’s sure to be plenty more coming. This is a band to hunt down live; I’ll be looking out for their next gig at the legendary Parish in Huddersfield in 2019.
