Guitar music is dead. That seems to be the message coming from “industry experts” recently. There is now no home for guitar music on our airwaves apparently…fake news!!! Manchester band The Covasettes very clearly did not get this memo as they recently released their brand new single Wondering Why proving exactly why guitar music is as alive as ever.
Following the success of their debut single, This Feeling, the exuberant four-piece have worked tirelessly over the last six months to bring their distinctive, catchy sound to music lovers across the country. Whilst the song starts in a similar style to generic indie bands like The Sherlocks, who have found great success with their formulaic bouncing tracks – it grows into something much more comparable to Catfish and the Bottlemen and is a very well formed effort.
Commenting on the track, the band said: “We are so excited to announce our second single Wondering Why. It is one of the first songs we ever wrote as a band so it is a great feeling to finally be able to share it with the world.” The track is full with everything you’d want from a killer indie-rock track, slow elements, riotous riffs and a catchy as hell chorus. The track is sure to be one that gets crowds bouncing when performed live with the driving drum track below the strong vocals.
For a relatively new band, Wondering Why manages to combine all of the typical elements of a track within this genre into one song. The song won’t win any awards, or even be the track the band become known for, but what it does do it set them up to really show their potential both live and on recorded music in 2018 – it’s the start of something special we predict. Watch this space very closely!
