About the New Single: “Get Used to the Night” is a heartfelt tribute to Rateliff’s late friend and collaborator, Richard Swift. The song features a poignant vocal performance from Rateliff, complemented by a rich brass arrangement from The Night Sweats. Reflecting on the song, Rateliff sings, “You run ahead and I’ll catch up to you / Still so much left for me to do,” capturing a sense of tender resignation and loss.

About the Album “South of Here”: Produced by Brad Cook (known for his work with Waxahatchee, Bon Iver, and Kevin Morby), “South of Here” was recorded at Sonic Ranch outside El Paso, Texas. The album delves into themes of love, loss, and personal struggle, transforming pain and trauma into a powerful, soul-baring collection of songs. Rateliff describes the album as an exploration of his own battles with anxiety and insecurity, hoping it will resonate with listeners facing their own challenges.

Video for “Heartless”: The new video for “Heartless,” directed by award-winning director Kimberly Stuckwisch, is available to watch here. Rateliff shares that the song speaks to the universal struggle of finding one’s way, reflecting his and Stuckwisch’s similar backgrounds of overcoming poverty.

Second Single “David and Goliath”: The album’s second single, “David and Goliath,” has received praise for its soulful and introspective nature, with Louder describing it as “moody Beatles-y sensibilities with a soulful lift.”
